Job Title : Technical Pattern Developer Lead

Location : Onsite – Tijuana, Mexico.

Reporting to : Director, Product Development.

Position Summary

The company is looking for a hands-on, technically skilled Technical Pattern Developer Lead to drive the end-to-end development of upholstered furniture products. This role is pivotal in transforming design concepts into production-ready patterns, ensuring precision, comfort, and manufacturability.

As a key member of the Product Development team, the Technical Pattern Developer Lead will collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design teams to deliver exceptional products that meet structural, ergonomic, and aesthetic standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor pattern makers and developers to achieve project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Establish best practices, workflows, and documentation for consistency and efficiency.
  • Review and approve patterns for structural integrity, ergonomic performance, and manufacturability.
  • Convert design and CAD models into precise patterns with clean seams and smooth finishes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Design to refine foam shapes and densities for optimal fit and comfort.
  • Oversee prototype builds and resolve pattern issues related to foam, seams, or fabric tension.
  • Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to assess construction methods and production feasibility.
  • Optimize foam-based upholstery patterns for efficient assembly and visual consistency.
  • Utilize digital patterning, nesting, and grading tools integrated with automated cutting systems.
  • Manage BOMs, revisions, and technical documentation through PLM / PDM systems.
Qualifications

Required :

  • Technical certification in Patternmaking or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in upholstery patternmaking and fabrication, including foam applications.
  • Proficiency in patternmaking software (Optitex, Gerber AccuMark, Lectra, ExactFlat).
  • Ability to interpret sketches, CAD drawings, and 3D models into accurate production-ready patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial sewing machines and upholstery prototyping materials.

Preferred :

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with U.S.-based consumer product companies.
  • Familiarity with 3D patterning and visualization software (CLO, Browzwear).
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
