About the Role

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain the server-side architecture and core components that power our client’s applications. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, data engineers, AI specialists, and product teams to ensure backend systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and high-performing.

This is a hands‑on leadership position with strong influence over technical strategy, architecture, and engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture design and establish engineering best practices across teams
• Design and implement scalable APIs, microservices, and backend systems capable of handling millions of requests
• Mentor senior engineers and promote technical innovation within the engineering team
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (AI, Frontend, DevOps, Product) to deliver integrated, high‑quality solutions
• Ensure system performance, security, and compliance with industry standards
• Create technical documentation and lead knowledge‑sharing initiatives

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of experience as a backend developer with increasing responsibility
• 3+ years in a senior or lead engineering role, with experience mentoring other engineers
• Proven experience designing and implementing large‑scale distributed systems
• Expert‑level proficiency in Python for web development and system programming
• Advanced experience with Django, Django REST Framework, and REST API design
• Strong experience with FastAPI and modern Python frameworks
• Deep understanding of asynchronous programming in Python (asyncio, Celery, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of database systems, performance tuning, and query optimization
• Experience with message queues and event‑driven architectures (SQS, SNS, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Expert understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system design
• Experience building high‑traffic, high‑availability, fault‑tolerant systems
• Strong understanding of load balancing, caching, and performance optimization strategies
• Experience with API gateways and service mesh technologies
• Knowledge of event sourcing, CQRS, and advanced architectural patterns
• Advanced experience with AWS services
• Expert knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI / ML components into backend systems
• Knowledge of video processing and streaming technologies
• Experience with multi‑tenant SaaS architectures
• Understanding of data privacy and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD)
