About the Role
The Senior Training Specialist is an integral part of the Uber Freight organization.
This job requires working closely with stakeholders and the ability to prioritize a wide range of projects at the same time.
This job will involve virtual and in-person instructor‑led training, program management, shadow coordination, working with customer facing and support groups, serving as an additional resource to teams and leaders, and program design & revisions.
This person will be focused on onboarding and continuous education of multiple teams across Uber Freight.
This individual must be highly driven and collaborative, as they will be working with leaders from all lines of the Uber Freight business.
This person should have strong relationship building skills, and be able to effectively convey an idea or process with passion.
This person will be expected to have a firm grasp of a wide variety of job functions and have the ability to speak to them as an expert in a training capacity.
They must be able to work effectively as an individual owner and as a team collaborator.
Strong communication skills, creativity, energy, people skills, and vision are a must for this position.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate & Deliver onboarding on an ongoing basis for new hires from selecting delivery location, working with leaders on timing and attendance lists, tracking, and reporting.
- Facilitate assessments and evaluations to measure impact of training and verify knowledge transfer, as well as employee happiness and engagement.
- Work with SMEs & Stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and hygiene.
- Work with new hire managers to provide feedback on training, participation, and ensure attendance in the onboarding integration programming.
- Own all aspects of new hire onboarding, from selecting delivery location, working with leaders on timing and attendance lists, tracking, and reporting. This includes partnering with recruiting and strategic finance.
- Partner with Uber Freight leaders to source speakers, maintain accurate information, and generate buy‑in for onboarding across the business.
- Build and deliver training in a variety of mediums (virtual instructor‑led, classroom, webinars, on‑the‑job training, pre‑recorded videos, online resources).
- Spend time while not training doing the following: learning the business & freight industry, connecting consistently with line of business leaders, monitoring team members strengths and gap areas, seeking new training delivery methodologies, providing on‑the‑spot coaching, and evaluating effectiveness of current training approaches, ad‑hoc training support and cross certification within Freight training programs.
- Leverage technology to maximize training impact and reliability.
- Update curriculum on a regular basis to ensure consistency in business practices and to improve existing training.
- Work closely and collaboratively with leaders and Instructional Designers to ensure SOPs are up to date and the look and feel of training materials are consistent with compliance for maximize effectiveness of delivery.
- Set the stage for the culture at Uber Freight.
- Be champions of our brand through your ability to touch team members.
- Expect 70% of time to be spent delivering training or spending time on the floor coaching, 30% will be on program improvement, research, meetings, various responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
- 3-4 years of Training or Program Management experience.
- Proficient English communication skills - written and verbal.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Freight / Logistics Industry.
- Experience working with an LMS (UKG a plus).
- Strong facilitation skills, ability to connect with a wide variety of learners across various locations, positions, and experience levels.
- Experience working in a highly detail‑oriented environment, demonstrating a high degree of diligence and accountability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in productivity tools such as Microsoft Suite, Visme, Canva.
- Experience with adult education & training or program management such as ADDIE, Kirkpatrick's evaluation model, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, Bloom's Taxonomy, or other adult learning theory.
- Flexibility to work cross‑functionally with other departments.
- Ability to give and receive feedback on a recurring basis.
