The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in furniture design with strong knowledge of both upholstery and case goods. Responsibilities include designing innovative collections, collaborating with project managers, and presenting designs to stakeholders. A portfolio and references are required. This position involves potential travel and fluency in English is essential.

Job Description

Living Spaces is seeking a Sr. Product Designer of furniture to join our team in Mexico and the United States. The ideal candidate will provide internal design services for our project managers, product developers and engineers. You will be responsible for the conception of upholstery and case good products, through sample approval. You will also be involved in the product development, engineering and quality.

Responsibilities

• Design of upholstered seating in Mexico and US.
• Design of upholstered beds and case pieces in Mexico.
• Research business and trend opportunities for new collections. Identify opportunities for innovation and design.
• Collaborate with design and project managers to validate research.
• Explore color, material, finish, construction, assembly and design.
• Create high resolution renders of approved concepts.
• Visually communicate and formally present designs to all stakeholders.
• Generate technical drawings for product development team. Communicate color, material, finish, details, proportions, mechanics, ergonomics, assembly, production.
• Oversee development, engineering, cost analysis, quality.
• Co-manage sample process.
• Manage sample critique and revisions.
• Present final sample to all stakeholders.
• Document all processes and assets.
• This position will require to travel as needed. (Visa required)

Qualifications

• 5-7 year’s experience in furniture design.
• Strong knowledge of furniture design, both case and upholstery.
• Proven track record of managing multiple complex design projects.
• Excellent cross functional leadership skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Proficiency in visual communication—CAD, rendering, image composites.
• Must present a portfolio and references.
• Fluency in English.

Technical Skills

• Hand drawing or digital drawing a plus.
• 3d modeling—solid works or similar.
• Rendering—Key shot or similar.
• Creative Suites.
• Gravity Sketch a plus.
• Microsoft Office.
