About you and this role

Dow Consumer Solution C&E (Consumer & Electronics) TS&D (Technical Service & Development) team is now open for a position as a Senior TS&D Specialist in G. China. This role will provide technical support and development for Mobility & Transportation Electronics, by identifying new opportunities for unmet customer needs or new applications and converting growth opportunities to commercial success. This position will closely partner with sales, marketing, and PD (Product Development) to fully interact and collaborate with Automotive customers in G. China, support business growth and drive innovation.

Responsibilities

Support Business Growth

• Promote existing and new products (mainly silicone products such as thermal interface material, adhesive, encapsulant, gel, conformal coating, etc.) and spec in DOW products for Automotive Electronics.
• On‑site technical service to assist customers in the proper application of DOW products.
• Resolve issues encountered by customers during product use by designing and performing experiments in lab. Handle quality issues by coordinating with internal commercial and production team and ultimately address it.
• Deliver presentations with clear results and proposals to influence internal and external audiences.
• Gain expertise competitive technologies and utilize for market specific activities.

Innovation

• Understand customers’ unmet needs, translate to critical technical requirements accordingly and collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams to initiate new projects to develop and commercialize new products.
• Establish internal capabilities to mimic customer applications, study and define material requirements, support product development and set up application tests.
• Participate and engage in cross‑functional stake‑holders communication (e.g. commercial, marketing, technical) to drive innovative projects and business growth.

Technical documentation

• Capable of documenting technical reports, product data sheets, application guides, technology manuals, external presentations, internal reports and patents, etc., as well as delivering external speeches and training sessions.

Safety

• Serve as the Environmental, Health & Safety advocate, ensures understanding and adherence to policies and procedures, willing to be the model of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph. D with majors in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or relevant scientific field.
• Minimum 3 years’ working experience with prior experience in Automotive or electronics industry, as application & technical service or product development work. Solid application knowledge in Automotive electronics component assembly is preferred.
• Product knowledge in silicone thermal interface materials, adhesive, sealant, encapsulant, gel, conformal coating, etc. would be desirable (or organic materials like epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic).
• Good written and verbal communication skills both in English and Mandarin Chinese.
• Agility for travel.
