Overview

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for the position of Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 533243). Position to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities
  • Join Professor Terry Lum’s research team to investigate ways to enhance trust and social cohesion in Asian settings.
  • Contribute to the development of localised social capital measurement tools.
  • Explore strategies to increase social support, cohesion, and collaboration among older adults, young adults, and ethnically diverse communities in Hong Kong, with a focus on how social capital influences health and well-being outcomes.
  • Perform data collection, literature review, liaison with local NGOs, and research data analysis.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a Social Sciences-related discipline.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative data analyses would be advantageous.
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Those with higher qualifications and/or more experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.
