Job Description

Primary Function of the Position

The Production Manager is accountable for managing production activities of a Value Stream to deliver products/services that meet quality specifications, achieve or exceed service level and cost targets while ensuring employee safety, complying with applicable regulations and company policies.

Under direct supervision, works with the Sr. Production Manager or Director of Manufacturing to establish short-term strategies to meet SIOP production goals, product/process transfer, employee engagement, culture deployment, and continuous improvement processes.

This role requires partnership with local and corporate departments to ensure alignment and flawless plan execution. Maintains an effective work model through the implementation and monitoring of process indicators related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Staff, and Productivity.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Identify and coordinate cost reduction projects including labor productivity, inventory, material usage, defects, using lean manufacturing and six sigma tools to drive improvements on KPI.
  2. Ensure implementation of IPS Tools. Lead efforts with other departments to resolve any restrictions that may hinder production. Train, develop, and enforce adherence to applicable DOP and SOP of Quality System & Manufacturing for Supervisors. Conduct interviews, hire, train employees, plan, assign, and manage workload to monitor development plans (TAP, EVOLVE). Reward and discipline employees, manage conflicts.
  3. Participate in SIOP process, review production plan and components, and HDCT requirements for upcoming quarters. Plan, supervise, drive improvement, and report production performance (Output/Yield/RCA/Efficiency).
  4. Coach and set expectations (Goals and Objectives), provide feedback, drive goals deployment, measure production metrics, and coordinate actions for improvements.
  5. Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to next management level (Safety/Quality/People/Service/others).
  6. Ensure compliance with quality system, standards, environment, EHS requirements, and all applicable company procedures and policies.
  7. Perform semiannual evaluations, provide feedback to supervisors, conduct monthly One-on-One meetings.
  8. Support subcontracting or process outsourcing initiatives.
  9. Drive culture strategy by fostering our mission, principles, and leadership expectations. Support new product and process transfers.
  10. Ensure closure of corrective actions from quality notifications per the quality system.
  11. Assist engineering FMR.
  12. Participate in planning budgets and control expenses to meet or exceed financial targets.
  13. Ensure staff compliance with training and certification programs. Support process validation.
  14. Review and approve Engineering Changes (ECOs). Collaborate in quality audits and follow-up actions from QA audits.
  15. Monitor inventory and cyclical counts of raw materials.
  16. Promote safe working conditions by performing/coordinating RCA for safety hazards or incidents.
  17. Promote PPE use. Ensure adherence to company health, safety, and environmental policies. Participate in health and safety committees.
  18. Partner with HR to address personnel-related activities. Develop and communicate strategies to meet department goals.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  1. 7 years of experience, including 5 years in leadership roles such as Production Supervisor, Superintendent, or similar.
  2. 2 years of experience with Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Systems.
  3. BSc in Engineering or BA; Master’s degree preferred. GB, BB Certified in Lean Sigma preferred.
  4. Ability to identify improvement opportunities using Lean Sigma and RCA techniques.
  5. Strong leadership, collaboration, and cross-functional team skills.
  6. Ability to manage complexity.
  7. Proficiency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, with effective presentation skills.
  8. Knowledge of ISO13485, MDSAP, equipment validation (IQ, OQ, PQ). Experience with ERP and planning systems (SAP, Agile, O9) preferred.

Preferred Skills And Experience Training

  1. Fluent in English and Spanish, with effective presentation skills for various organizational levels.
  2. Green Belt / Black Belt in Lean-Sigma preferred.
  3. Experience with Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Systems, Project Management, Product Transfer/NPI.
  4. Experience with external medical device regulatory audits (FDA, ISO, ANVISA).
  5. Proven leadership, engagement, and team-building skills.
  6. Experience with ERP and planning systems (SAP, Agile, o9) preferred.
  7. Track record in people development.
