A leading engineering firm in Tijuana seeks an experienced Mechatronics Engineer to design and implement innovative mechatronic systems. Responsibilities include programming PLCs and SCADA systems, developing control algorithms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have at least 5 years of hands-on experience with automation projects. Proficiency in CAD software and programming languages like C/C++ and Python is essential for success in this position.

General Activities
  • Design, develop, and implement mechatronic systems, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Program and configure PLCs, SCADA systems, and embedded controllers for industrial automation applications.
  • Develop, tune, and optimize control algorithms (PID controllers, feedback loops, motion control).
  • Design and validate mechanical components using CAD software and simulation tools.
  • Integrate and test sensors, actuators, and robotic systems (robotic arms, IoT devices, automated machinery).
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and on-site technical support for equipment and checksum.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in interdisciplinary systems.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and software) and work directly with customers on technical projects.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards (ISO, OSHA, IEC).
  • Participate in prototyping activities, including 3D printing and design validation.
  • Provide support for installations, technical travel, and training activities as required.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechatronics engineering or related fields, such as automation, robotics, or embedded systems design.
  • Proven track record in designing, developing, and implementing mechatronic systems, including integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Hands‑on experience with projects involving automation, IoT devices, robotic arms, or complex machinery in industries like manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
Technical Skills Requirements
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or other systems) for mechanical design and simulation.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for control algorithms and embedded systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, others) and SCADA systems for industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of sensors, actuators, microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and control systems.
  • Familiarity with robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS – Robot Operating System). Sepro and/or Wittmann experience preferred.
  • Experience with prototyping tools, 3D printing.
Certifications and Additional Qualifications
  • Certifications in specific tools or methodologies, such as Six Sigma, ISO standards for quality management, or specialized training in robotics (e.g., from ABB, Fanuc or others).
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, IEC 61508 for functional safety in mechatronic systems).
Other Requirements
  • Willingness to travel for on‑site installations or client precisa, if applicable.
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking English preferred. Spanish for technical documentation and communication in Mexico.
  • Legal authorization with visas or permits for travel in the USA.
