About the job

Goods & Services is looking for a Lead Data Governance Specialist to lead and implement policies and frameworks that ensure the quality, security, and compliance of data across our organization. This role is critical in managing data standards, ownership, and integrity while fostering a culture that embraces data‑driven decision‑making.

What you’ll do:
  • Design and implement robust data governance policies, procedures, and standards to align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for data stewardship and ownership across business units.
  • Develop mechanisms to monitor and ensure data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to identify and resolve data quality issues and enforce data standards.
  • Ensure data governance practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Partner with IT and legal teams to implement data security measures and mitigate risks.
  • Oversee the ethical use of data, ensuring adherence to company policies and societal standards.
  • Implement processes for regular audits and monitoring of data activities to uphold integrity.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, business units, and leadership to align data governance strategies with business objectives.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to promote data literacy and a data‑driven culture.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for data governance and quality initiatives.
  • Create comprehensive reports and dashboards for stakeholders on data governance performance.
What you’ll need:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or related data management roles.
  • Proven expertise in implementing data governance frameworks and driving data strategies.
  • Strong understanding of data governance tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Proficiency in data quality management tools and data visualization platforms.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.
Preferred:
  • Certifications in Data Governance (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, DAMA).
  • Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑based data solutions and architecture (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
