Role Summary
The IT Solutions Delivery Lead, R&D Operations is responsible for delivering IT strategies and system ownership for the R&D organization, enabling the business to focus on research, development, and related activities. This role maintains continuous engagement with the R&D department to identify and scope the development, testing, and release of R&D business systems, providing system support, maintenance, licensing, data management, and project delivery throughout the lifecycle. The role is part of the global R&D IT Solution Delivery and Support team, coordinating with business SMEs and IT project managers to capture requests and address data, process, and technical issues that affect efficiency and change.
Responsibilities
- Technical ownership of SAS 9.4, SAS Viya, R-Studio, Phoenix WinNonLin, PumasAI, etc.
- Lifecycle Management of applications to deliver business capabilities and optimize resource allocation.
- Financial responsibility for all system operational expenses.
- Manage software vendors to ensure SLAs are met and systems are up to date.
- Manage licensing including budgeting and growth forecasting.
- Facilitate Application Steering Committees to maximize value and improve UX.
- Participate in change control boards and design review committees.
- Bridge business needs and technology constraints to develop appropriate strategies/solutions.

- Support new application and system deployment projects with emphasis on SDLC.
- Participate as SME and lead projects with project managers, technicians, and business analysts.
- Develop and implement technical strategies for validated/qualified computer systems with a focus on global enterprise systems.
- Partner with the business to implement next-gen applications and upgrades.
- Develop Solution Options from user requirements including effort and cost estimates.
- Champion internal IT standards and best practices during design/implementation.
- Provide analytical support for complex projects; establish plans and timelines; coordinate with internal/external sources.
- Organize requirements gathering and solution design sessions with customers and partners.
- Develop a support plan and ensure smooth turnover of operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or greater in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry or related field; or significant experience supporting research systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical or business analyst role with a focus on R&D functional systems and/or IT.
- Experience with Pharma/BioTech R&D systems such as SAS 9.4, SAS Viya, R-Studio, Phoenix WinNonLin, PumasAI, etc.
- Data analysis experience with SQL, Oracle, Excel, Power BI, etc.
- Experience delivering mid-to-large projects with teams of 5–15 members on time and within budget.
- General knowledge of principles used in development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals.
Education
- Bachelor of Science or greater in a relevant technical field or significant supporting experience in pharmaceutical R&D systems.
