KEY OBJECTIVE

As a Head of Technical Solutions for our Digital Transformation team, you will play a key technical leadership role, ensuring the software solutions for core insurance platforms for Auto line of business are designed, built and implemented using modern patterns and practices, and follows corporate standards. You will be responsible for leading a high-performing team of Sr. Software Engineers and Technical Leaders, ensuring a productive environment for the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and resilient software solutions.

This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to modern agile development practices. You’ll be both hands‑on and strategic, diving deep into code to define system solutions and ensure its standards adherence and correct implementation, and establishing technical roadmaps, best practices and processes that you and all the engineering team will act upon to deliver quality and scalable software solutions.

The person on this role should have a passion to understand and apply software engineering and architectural design patterns for modern solutions, while learning how to manage and prioritize technology decisions over a portfolio of applications and drive modernization initiatives.

As a lead role within the software engineering organization, this person is expected to coach and mentor other members of the extended team and have the ability to communicate and negotiate within other senior technical and business leaders in order to articulate the right prioritization of activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The person in this role will be accountable for:

• Lead and mentor the Sr. Software Engineers and Lead Engineers team in software engineering and quality assurance best practices, and adherence to architectural standards and corporate processes
• Ensure a high level of excellence and performance on the Sr Software Engineers and Lead Engineers, their understanding of business and IT processes, as well as best practices and standards for software delivery
• Provide technical engineering excellence in the software delivery practices, defining and leading the implementation of modern and reliable solutions that fulfill business requirements and adhere to the architecture and corporate guidelines.
• Drive adoption and execution of DevSecOps and Testing Automation across all teams; ensuring CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure are secure and automated
• Collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders, product management and cross functional teams, to identify and solve complex problems, and align technical direction with strategic goals
• Be a focal point for regional and global IT requirements about applications on Mexico’s Digital Enterprise scope
• Oversee both on-premises and cloud implementations; ensure smooth integration and operation of hybrid solutions
• Maintain compliance with industry and company standards, with continuous focus on security, scalability, and maintainability
• Assess and evaluate team members, manage performance, hiring, and promote their professional development
• Able to provide technical excellence while embracing flexibility over building “bulletproof” systems
• Build, maintain and implement complex, large-scale applications capable of integrating with multiple internal/external systems
• Coordinate and execute Proofs of Concepts for new technologies, architecture patterns or standards.
• Engage in and lead development efforts across the full SDLC from design and coding through to test, build, QA, deployment, and maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related IT field.
• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in software development and solution design, with a minimum of 4 years in a Technical Leadership role, managing engineering teams.
• 6+ years of experience and proficiency designing and building solutions utilizing .Net or Java, Angular 18+, Gthub, Kafka (or equivalent), and CI/CD practices for on-premises and cloud deployments.
• 6+ years of experience of design, implementation, and maintenance of relational databases such as SQL Server or similar
• Experience in containerizing applications using Docker & Kubernetes preferred
• Experience in Cloud solutions design and implementation using Azure (preferred), AWS or GCP
• 4+ years of experience with modern Agile development methodologies (Scrum, SAFE, Lean or Kanban)
• Solid understanding of Software Engineering and design patterns and their implementation, including microservices, and modern cloud patterns.
• Proven success leading multi‑team environments and executing software delivery projects
• Previous experience with cloud solutions (Azure is preferred)
• Experience utilizing or basic understanding of AI Coding tools, Agentic coding or LLMs is desired.
• High level understanding of architecture modeling / concepts
• Experience evaluating / comparing technologies / products using both functional and non-functional requirements
• Proven ability to technically guide and motivate a development team, including strong code review and coaching skills
• Ability to quickly learn project processes and their incorporation into the tools utilized.
• Highly organized, possessing strong analytical abilities
• Excellent written/verbal skills and ability to interact well with various levels of the organization
• Effectively executes on plans, drives for results and takes accountability for outcomes.
• Orientation towards details and problem solving
• B2 proficiency level in English
