A global professional services company is seeking an Inventory Assistant to manage and track hardware and supplies in a data center. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in inventory management, certification in the field, and a basic understanding of IT hardware. The Inventory Assistant will support the management and tracking of all hardware, equipment, and supplies within the data center environment. This role ensures accurate inventory records, efficient stock management, and compliance with data center operational requirements. This role reports to the Inventory manager and offers excellent exposure to data center operations and potential career growth opportunities within IT infrastructure management.

Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in inventory management, warehousing, or similar role.
  • Certification in inventory management or supply chain operations.
  • Basic understanding of IT hardware and data center equipment.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in data center environments.
  • Basic understanding of data center operations and safety protocols.
  • Experience with RFID tracking systems or barcode scanning technology.
  • Familiarity with ITIL asset management practices.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, networking equipment, and data center infrastructure.
  • Experience with ERP systems or specialized inventory management platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of all IT hardware, servers, networking equipment, cables, and data center supplies.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts of equipment and materials.
  • Update inventory management systems with real-time data on stock levels, locations, and equipment status.
  • Track incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring proper documentation and verification.
  • Monitor inventory levels and generate purchase requisitions when stock reaches reorder points.
  • Assign and maintain asset tags for all equipment entering the data center.
  • Track equipment lifecycle from procurement through deployment to disposal.
  • Coordinate with IT teams to update asset records during equipment moves, additions, or changes.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment serial numbers, warranty information, and service history.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming equipment and supplies.
  • Organize warehouse space for optimal efficiency and equipment protection.
  • Prepare equipment for deployment including staging, basic configuration setup, and quality checks.
  • Coordinate equipment returns, repairs, and warranty claims.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure storage areas.
  • Generate regular inventory reports for management review.
  • Document discrepancies and work with teams to resolve inventory issues.
  • Maintain vendor records and coordinate with procurement for equipment sourcing.
  • Update inventory databases and ensure data accuracy across all systems.
