The Indirect Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, administering, and implementing supply agreements for MRO related commodities and services with a focus on cost savings. They will ensure continuity of supply at optimum cost and quality. The MRO Buyer will create long term vendor relationships that lead to optimal price reductions, best in class quality and on-time delivery performance. They will have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions

• The Indirect Buyer will maintain positive relationships with Suppliers/Vendors to fulfill all non-production related purchasing needs by ensuring accessibility of emergency parts, shorten lead times and finding alternatives as necessary.
• They will negotiate on-going services and manage suppliers/vendors accordingly.
• The MRO Buyer will source new suppliers/vendors; request quotations, analyze data, and negotiate pricing and payment terms.
• They will resolve all issues with suppliers including quality, quantity, returns, and invoicing.
• The Indirect Buyer will initiate cost savings activities specific to the purchasing department and assist in the managing of those services. They will also manage MRO inventory and strive to keep it as lean as possible.
• They will achieve annual cost reduction and commercial contract goals.
• The Indirect Buyer will manage the tool crib, ensuring the tool crib attendants keep the area safe, neat and clean at all times.
• They will coordinate with other departments to analyze metrics for continuous improvement efforts.
• The Indirect Buyer will procure MRO supplies, tooling and services in accordance with purchasing procedures.

Required Education and Experience

• 3-4 years of experience with general indirect buyer product knowledge
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven success in negotiating contracts and strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong coordination and organizational skills
• Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Courses in inventory control are an asset
