Overview
The Doctor is responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services across the company’s manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely medical attention for employees, supports workplace safety initiatives, and maintains full compliance with applicable health, labor, and regulatory standards (STPS, IMSS, ISSESALUD).
The position oversees medical evaluations, emergency response, case management, documentation of workplace accidents, preventive health programs, and epidemiological surveillance. It also plays a key role in employee wellness initiatives, ergonomic assessments, and facilitating a safe return-to-work process.
In addition, the Doctor manages medical supplies and equipment for all assigned plants, supervises the nursing staff to ensure full shift coverage, and collaborates closely with HR, Operations, and EHS teams. This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to lead health-related efforts within a fast-paced industrial environment. (This is a part time job)
Responsibilities
- Provide initial medical evaluation and care to employees presenting with discomfort, injuries, or onsite emergencies.
- Determine, based on the patient’s condition, whether referral to the IMSS or another institution for specialized care is required.
- Administer basic treatments, authorized medications, and provide clinical follow-up for all cases attended.
- Conduct occupational health evaluations in accordance with NOM-030, NOM-035, and other applicable regulations based on the occupational risks of each plant.
- Monitor health conditions related to occupational hazards and work-related illnesses.
- Participate in the investigation and documentation of workplace accidents, completing IMSS and STPS documentation accurately and on time.
- Validate IMSS-issued medical leaves and advise employees on the corresponding administrative process.
- Provide follow-up for recurring or high-impact medical cases, ensuring a safe and appropriate return-to-work process.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and sensitive information management standards.
- Implement ongoing annual preventive health campaigns (vaccination, chronic disease detection, ergonomics, hydration, hepatitis, HIV, DOC, DOCMA, etc.).
- Train personnel in occupational health topics such as first aid, bloodborne pathogens, biological-hazardous waste management, human tissue transport, ergonomics, and related areas.
- Support and promote organizational wellness initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (STPS / IMSS / ISSESALUD).
- Record medical consultations, incidents, and plant health statistics, generating periodic reports for HR and Safety.
- Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Commission.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on safe return-to-work processes following medical leave or prolonged absences.
- Manage medical resources and supplies across plants to ensure timely availability of medications, first-aid kits, and medical equipment.
- Oversee medical staff across all shifts, ensuring proper coverage and preparing the weekly payroll for assigned personnel.
- Develop and deliver health and nutrition topics that support employee education and continuous learning.
- Review cafeteria menus weekly to ensure balanced and adequate nutrition in company-subsidized meals.
- Develop continuous improvement plans with the medical team based on annual employee survey results and other climate indicators.
- Stay current with applicable occupational health, safety, and industrial hygiene regulations to ensure proper implementation across plants.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) with valid professional license.
- Specialization or certification in Occupational Health (license registered in the national professional registry).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in occupational medicine or medical services within industrial/company environments.
- Certification and experience in emergency management (BLS and ACLS).
- Strong knowledge of applicable labor and health regulations:
NOM-030, NOM-035, NOM-036, NOM-011, NOM-006, NOM-009, NOM-010, NOM-037, LFT, IMSS regulations, SSA regulations, and RFSST.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and accident investigation.
- Experience in epidemiological medical surveillance programs aligned with occupational risks.
- Competence in managing medical records and confidential information.
- English proficiency (intermediate–advanced desirable).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal systems (Tres Supervisores and Tres Médico).
- Experience collaborating in government and internal audits.
- Knowledge and application of ergonomic techniques in workplace stations.
