A leading bank in Mexico is looking for a qualified individual to oversee the development of its Physical Security programs. This role requires managing various programs like Asset Protection, Employee Preparedness, and more, ensuring effective incident management and compliance with regulations. Candidates need a Bachelor's degree, bilingual abilities in English and Spanish, and extensive leadership experience in security. The position requires availability for emergency responses and international travel, approximately 25-30% yearly.

Purpose

Leads and oversees the development of Physical Security programs, with direct oversight of Centre Two (Mexico, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia and Dominican Republic) and support Centre 1 as required, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Owns the Asset Protection Program to mitigate identified risks to protect the Bank's assets.
  • Owns the Employee Preparedness Program to support employees with workplace safety training, education campaigns, and resources.
  • Owns the Travel & Events Program providing direction to key stakeholders in elevated risk travel scenarios and mitigate risks for large corporate global events.
  • Owns the Incident Management Program to ensure effective incident management for physical security events, coordination with law enforcement and industry partners, and conducting post-incident reviews to mitigate risks of reoccurrence.
  • Owns the Security Operations program to support incident detection and initial response to physical security incidents and investigations triage.
  • Owns Technology and Data Analytics Program to ensure innovation, implementation and integration of security solutions, stay abreast of industry standards and application of technology to meet Bank's risk appetite.
  • Executes the Global Executive Protection program to ensure the safety of the Bank’s senior executives (EVP+), including management of third-party providers.
  • Influences and guides the physical threat intelligence function to integrate intelligence into Prevent and Response programs, ensuring that physical security strategy remains proactive and risk informed.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education Experience
  • This role is located in Mexico.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field. Most Liberal Arts degrees apply (i.e. Political Science, Risk Management, Business, Military Studies, Development Studies, etc.).
  • English and Spanish required.
  • 10-15 years of leadership experience within a corporate or government security department or organization with similar complexity to Scotiabank’s operations.
Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment. This role functions between a standard office environment and Scotiabank facilities, however candidate(s) must be available 24/7 for emergency response and be available for travel as required.

International and Domestic travel is a key component of this position, 25-30% per annum. Wherever possible advance notice will be provided, however situations may dictate travel with minimal advance notice.
