3M Mexico needs a smart, dynamic, entrepreneurial attorney to work closely with business leadership and manage the wide range of exciting and challenging issues that stem from 3M Mexico's ongoing transformation as an innovative leader.

The impact you will make in this role

The Legal General Counsel will be part of a highly leveraged team to support the business operations of 3M Mexico. Works splits will be determined based on the candidates’ respective skill sets and aptitude, but the platform will be diverse and could include oversight over the whole Office of General Counsel portfolio. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Commercial and transactional – Helping our businesses grow.

• Functional support – For example: Labor & Employment, Regulatory, Litigation and Dispute Resolution Management, Manufacturing Operations, Business Service Operations.

• Corporate Governance – 3M Mexico has different Entities that requires management.

• Compliance – Advancing 3M’s Compliance & Business Conduct program: Building and maintaining a compliance culture.

• Subject Matter Expertise -- e.g., Going deeper into Competition Law or E-Commerce or other select Practice Group areas.

• Build the Institution – For example: Contract Management systems, Knowledge Management, Legal Department administration.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• 5 - 10 years of rich experience as general counsel in advising on Mexico law, including being well‑versed in the latest company law developments.

• Experience as general counsel head of legal with a large multi‑national corporation.

• Strong communication skills in spoken and written English (advance level).

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

• Proactive, entrepreneurial approach to recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues and developing solutions; excellent business judgment and strategic thinking

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Nice to have: Overseas education. Top caliber law firm experience.

• Attention to detail with excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities.

• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and responsibilities with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.

• Strong collaboration skills, with an ability to build relationships both within a team and across external departments.

• Agility to learn on the fly. Business acumen. Solutions‑orientation. Brings their whole self to issue solving. Strong sense of leadership, integrity, accountability.

• Some domestic business travel, and periodic international travel involved

Work Location

This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the corporate office at Santa Fe, CDMX.
