ERM is seeking a Social Consultant to join our support team in Mexico City, Mexico.

We are looking for a senior professional with a strong background in community engagement, land access negotiations, stakeholder mapping, human rights, impact identification, and implementation of management measures. This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant who combines solid technical expertise with the ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality outcomes across different sectors.

ROLE
  • Provide strong technical expertise in community engagement, land access negotiations, stakeholder mapping, impact identification, and implementation of management measures.
  • Lead and contribute to social due diligence processes, social baseline studies, stakeholder engagement plans, and other assessments in line with national regulations and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles).
  • Conduct desktop work (information review, research, data processing), develop and coordinate reports focused on social contexts, impacts, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with requirements.
  • Perform fieldwork activities, including stakeholder engagement, consultations, and information gathering to support social baselines and impact assessments.
  • Systematize and analyze field data to produce clear, evidence-based recommendations and management measures.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the professional development of the social performance team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, International Relations, Social Sciences or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in social performance, community engagement, and/or human rights.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and consultation processes, including ejidos and other local stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder mapping and analysis.
  • Social impact identification, assessment, and management.
  • Design and implementation of social management plans.
  • Previous experience directing community engagement processes related to land development, energy, transmission lines, permitting and/or construction of large-scale facilities (asset).
  • Strong experience conducting both fieldwork (community consultations, social baseline studies, social due diligence) and desktop work (research, data analysis, compliance reviews, reporting).
  • Strong ability to prepare professional presentations, decks and reports that support stakeholder engagement and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with national and international databases and tools for data analysis and social context understanding (e.g., INEGI, CONAPO, INPI).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with local communities, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Previous experience in consulting environments is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for field assignments as required; valid passport and driver’s license (US Visa desirable).
