A leading electric vehicle manufacturer in Mexico is seeking a Construction Safety Manager to lead the safety culture at Gigafactory Mexico. The chosen candidate will oversee safety operations, manage contractor relationships, and ensure compliance with EHS regulations. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, over 10 years of construction safety experience, and be bilingual in English and Spanish. Formación

  • 10+ years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental roles, especially in construction.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of STPS, NOM's, and SEMARNAT regulations.

What to Expect

Tesla is looking to hire a Construction Safety Manager to join our team who is energetic and demonstrates a passion for leading the safety culture for the major construction project, Gigafactory Mexico.

The Construction Safety Manager will report to the EHS Director who will provide guidance in the project safety management program and overall project safety.

The Construction Safety Manager will oversee the construction safety program and onsite operations for Gigafactory Mexico.

He or She will lead a construction safety team to support project activities including heavy civil, steel erection, electrical and mechanical systems, and equipment and tooling installation for both contractors and the Tesla internal construction teams.

What You'll Do
  • Manage contractors, vendors and suppliers by enforcing Tesla Contractor environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) policies and procedures
  • Support Tesla Construction Management regarding construction and tool installation planning including overseeing the pre-qualification process of EHS&S requirements for both local and international contractors and suppliers
  • Monitor and audit regulatory compliance and EHS&S processes at assigned construction locations, and ensure a safe workplace through development, implementation and sustaining safety programs
  • Must possess a positive relationship and in good standing with federal and local regulatory agencies
  • Perform frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and have the skills, knowledge and ability to take immediate corrective action if required
  • Lead and document accident / incident investigations to determine root cause, prevention and corrective measures
  • Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal health and safety regulations
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • 10+ years of Health, Safety and Environmental experience, with experience in construction safety or similar environment building commercial and / or manufacturing facilities
  • DC3 or DC5 certification and CSP, CHST or other globally recognized accredited certification in EHS
  • Working knowledge of STPS (Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social), NOM's (Norma Official Mexicana), SEMARNAT Regulations and regional EHS regulations
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Experience with managing EHS programs and contractor safety management
  • Experience leading successful project teams, including development of employees, and maintaining relationships with external entities and ability to support EHS programs with strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

Must have the ability to discuss technical topics with a variety of audiences - contractors, engineers, and regulatory agencies

  • Must be able to wear fall protection in accordance with manufacturer's weight limit
