The successful candidate will oversee purchasing activities, manage vendor relations, and analyze demand to meet production needs. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management and minimum 8 years of experience in material planning within manufacturing. Buyer/Planner
Reports to:Manager, Production Control
Location:Queratero, Mexico*
Aptar has an exciting position open in Queretaro, Mexico: Buyer/Planner. This position will be based in Queretaro and will be responsible for: Purchasing materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization and in alignment with regional strategies. Managing the vendor base in support of all site level purchasing activities, ensuring those activities are in alignment with regional strategies. Analyzing demand and production capacities, deciding the appropriate action plans, and then taking the necessary steps to ensure we meet customer commitments. Additionally, the Buyer/Planner will work with Purchasing, Operations, Quality, and Suppliers on service issues, process improvement initiatives, and manage overall inventory levels to meet established targets. Identifying and implementing continuous improvements to the Supply Chain process.
Review purchasing requisitions for necessary approvals, convert requisitions to purchase orders, and issue POs to vendors
Manage all day-to-day purchasing activities in support of normal business operations
Monitor and expedite availability of materials and components to meet production schedules and customer requirements
Coordinate the creation of and changes to Purchasing master data
May coordinate material change requests as needed
Assure supplier adherence to AptarGroup purchase order terms and conditions, negotiating those terms when needed
Develop material forecasts and provide to key suppliers
Partner in, lead, and monitor quality initiatives that involve the vendor base
Manage material costs within budgeted levels and works with vendors to look for ways to maintain and reduce costs through formal supplier inventory programs (i.e. Kanban, Consignment, VMI)
Identify process enhancement and savings opportunities in support of specific procurement objectives
In conjunction with regional teams, develop, support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies and procedures
Review demand and apply appropriate planning logic and strategy to ensure customer demands are met while managing inventory levels
Monitor open PO report and review with departments of status of deliveries.
Collaborate with Customer Service and Departmental Managers to effectively communicate supply requirements/constraints
Manage inventory for responsible products to ensure service and goals are achieved
Involvement in interdisciplinary project teams.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or Operations Management; or equivalent experience as determined by management
Required Skills:
Minimum 8years material planning, inventory control or production scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
English language skills required
Must possess intermediate or better PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite products and email programs such as Microsoft Outlook
Experience in financial analysis and strategic planning
Preferred Skills:
SAP experience preferred
