A litigation support firm in Mexico City is seeking an experienced paralegal to assist a US law firm with personal injury and criminal cases. The role involves case management, legal research, and client communication. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in a law firm, excellent English skills, and proficiency with legal software. This position requires a commitment of 50 hours a week during American business hours and offers weekly pay.

Formación

  • Experience in criminal law is a must.
  • Fluent in advanced American English, written and oral.
  • Experience working as a paralegal to a law firm for 2+ years.

In this role, you will support a litigation law firm team, assisting them with various tasks including client intake, legal research, case discovery, legal writing, client liaison, court filings, and legal document preparation. You will join a successful law firm in the US and be assigned to work on personal injury and criminal cases. You'll be working 50 hrs/week during American business hours and get paid weekly.

Requirements and Responsibilities:
  • Case management through all stages of litigation, up to and including mediation, settlement, and trial
  • Calendar management, including managing attorney calendar, calendaring deadlines, statutes, coordinating and scheduling depositions, mediations, hearings, and other appearances
  • Experience in filing and e-filing in State, Appellate, and Federal Courts, Experience in propounding and responding to discovery, Experience drafting pleadings, motions, correspondence, memoranda, notices, and other legal documents
  • Experience in case management database(s) and documenting all actions related to case activity
  • Provide excellent customer service while speaking to clients including frequent verbal and written case related updates
  • Provide accurate translation between attorney and clients
Qualification & Experience Requirements
  • Experience in criminal law is a must
  • Experience in personal injury is a plus
  • Fluent in advanced American English, written and oral
  • Bachelor's degree in Law or/and a Juris Doctor degree
  • Experience in conducting legal intakes, managing calendars, and scheduling appointments.
  • Experience working as a paralegal to a law firm for 2+ years
  • Experience in legal research, case discovery, and legal writing
  • Experience using legal software like Clio, LexisNexis, MyCase
  • Excellent personal presentation and telephone manner
