A major financial institution seeks a Business Development Officer to enhance client acquisition processes. The ideal candidate will develop new client relationships in lending and cash management products and ensure compliance with regulations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in finance or related fields along with 5–8 years of commercial banking experience. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, with preference for candidates fluent in advanced English. This is a full-time role based in Mexico City.

Formación

  • Intermediate Advanced English is desirable.

The Business Development Officer is a seasoned professional role that applies in‑depth disciplinary knowledge to develop new techniques and improve processes and workflow within the area or function. The role integrates subject‑matter and industry expertise, coordinating and contributing to the objectives of the function and overall business. The officer evaluates moderately complex issues, weighing alternatives, balancing conflicting situations, and using multiple information sources. Strong analytical skills filter, prioritize, and validate complex material from many sources. Good communication and diplomacy skills are required, and the officer regularly assumes informal/formal leadership roles, coaching new recruits. The officer’s actions significantly influence project size, geography, and decisions in the area of specialization, directly affecting the performance of all teams.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize all possible channels to source quality new‑to‑bank clients with potential to generate business across lending, treasury, capital markets, and cash management products.
  • Manage the entire new‑client acquisition process from prospect identification to facility availment.
  • Analyze market trends and size, integrating analytical skills and data‑analysis methodologies.
  • Facilitate client onboarding by resolving operational and service issues.
  • Prepare credit assessments, monitor risk, and liaise with clients on documentation or information requests.
  • Prepare client presentations for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and other regulatory norms.
  • Follow up with clients on offer acceptance and confirm successful facility availment.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and competitive landscape.
  • Assess risk appropriately, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation, safeguarding Citigroup, customers, and assets; drive compliance with laws, rules, policies, and ethical standards, and escalates control issues transparently.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, commerce, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 5–8 years of relevant commercial banking experience.
  • Proactive record of building relationships with product and credit review/approval partners.
Education
