The position is based in Naples or Pistoia, requiring a degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Vehicle Transportation Engineering. Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Vehicle System Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in the Engineering Department. The position is based in Naples or Pistoia - IT.

Accountabilities

• Define Electrical high, medium and low voltage Train architecture
• Define Train Control and Monitoring Architecture
• Define Train Performance with the support of simulation tools
• Develop Vehicle Functional Requirement
• Define Systems on board interfaces
• Prepare the Vehicle Test Specifications
• Support for performance and functional tests of the vehicle

Required Skills/ Knowledge

• Knowledge of the basic concepts of the RAMS disciplines is an advantage.
• Knowledge of the main regulations relating to on-board systems in the railway business
• Ability to interpret electrical drawing, pneumatic drawings, system specification software specification and mechanical drawings
• Knowledge of the electrotechnical, electronic and system engineering
• Knowledge of the main communication protocols and network architectures
• Preferred knowledge of the Norms and Standards applicable in the railway
• Preferred knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.)
• Knowledge of the main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Knowledge of the requirements management process and tools (IBM DOORS)
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation, with the aptitude to contribute with constructive and practical ideas.
• Readiness to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, multitasking international environment.
• Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects is required.
• Availability for short-term national and international business trip.

Education/Qualifications

Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Vehicle Transportation Engineering or equivalent

Languages

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. English language knowledge on at least international C1 level
