A leading head hunting firm is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a deep-tech start-up in Milan. You will lead the mechanical architecture for an innovative redox flow battery, manage CAD and technical drawings, and conduct FEM/FEA to enhance design. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has at least 5 years of relevant experience, especially in industrial product design. The role requires strong teamwork skills and the ability to make technical decisions.

Competenze

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering for medium/high pressure liquid systems.
  • Strong background in stack assemblies and industrial product design.
  • Proven ability in design reviews and engineering documentation.

Mansioni

The partner:

We are looking for aSenior Mechanical Engineer for an important deep-tech start-up in Milan that develops and markets an innovative redox flow battery for energy storage, using abundant, low-cost materials.

The role:
  • Leading the mechanical architecture of the stack: compression strategy, gasket design, structural components and hydraulic interfaces
  • CAD management, technical drawings, tolerance strategy and bill of materials management for the stack and related assemblies
  • Performing FEM/FEA by correlating models with test results, as well as conducting root cause analysis with a view to improving design
  • Lead DFM/DFA by specifying and qualifying components (plastics/wet metals, seals, fittings, fasteners), ensuring compatibility and lifecycle reliability
  • Collaborate with R&D, hydraulics and automation to align operational constraints with hardware limitations
  • Support supplier development, production process definition and quality control
Mandatory skills:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering development for medium/high pressure liquid systems (PhD years will also be considered if relevant)
  • Strong experience with stack assemblies (compression, sealing, frames) and industrial product design
  • Proven ability in design reviews, technical decisions and engineering documentation
  • Experience with FEM/FEA tools and failure analysis
  • Aptitude for teamwork, making independent decisions with respect to established priorities
Optional skills:
  • Experience with flow batteries or hydrogen systems
  • Experience with chemical compatibility constraints (materials, sealing, corrosion, ageing)
