About the role

As a Project Development Manager at Queequeg Renewables, you will lead the development of wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in Italy. Your responsibilities will include identifying and evaluating opportunities, managing feasibility studies, and securing key partnerships to bring projects to ready-to-build status. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring projects align with regulatory requirements and economic viability while contributing to Italy’s clean energy transition.

Role responsibilities

  1. Lead the development of new Wind, PV and BESS projects.
  2. Identify, evaluate, and prioritize project opportunities through comprehensive screening and due diligence processes.
  3. Lead deal structuring and commercial negotiations with partners and other key market players for the acquisition of pipelines or establishment of JVs and other possible partnerships.
  4. Properly assess the commercial & contractual terms of each opportunity ensuring its economic viability. Also evaluating & understanding both the business and the financial model.
  5. Ensure projects reach ready to build status by managing the relationship with the relevant stakeholders such as JV partners, authorities, land owners, grid operators, offtakers, advisors, etc.
  6. Link and work with local authorities, utility companies and private entities as well as with financial institutions, funds, potential investors and buyers implementing the strategic partnerships for the country.
  7. Coordinate the tasks and inputs of the Engineering team as well as the supporting functions such as Legal, Tax, and Finance team – and eventually external advisors - during the development phase as well as during the acquisition and sale phase.
  8. Perform and implement the Financial and Business Memorandums (IC Memo) and manage all the required internal approval processes providing Management Information and ensuring the right level of control during deployment of the opportunities across the various stages (origination, development, construction and sale).
  9. Keep himself/herself timely and fully informed on any market development and industry news/events in order to quickly identify business opportunities.
  10. Manage all aspects of wind, BESS, and solar PV project development from feasibility studies to final permitting.
  11. Coordinate project teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders;
  12. Conduct feasibility studies for project acquisitions.
  13. Help identifying and securing new development opportunities.
  14. Liaise and cooperate with the engineering team.
  15. Contribute to developing and implementing the company's business development strategy.

Skills

  1. Strong project Management.
  2. Ability to work autonomously and proactively.
  3. Ability to work within a team and support team members.
  4. English proficiency written and oral.

Experience/knowledge

  1. 2+ years verifiable experience in a similar role in Italy;
  2. Strong understanding of the Italian regulatory framework related to the energy sector, specifically the development and construction of PV and Wind Plants, including environmental and licensing requirements.
  3. Basic knowledge of the Italian electricity system/technical and regulatory, including distributed generation regulations plus utilities and related interconnection procedures.
