The International School of Siena, opened in 2010, is an inclusive and internationally minded community offering the full IB continuum from Early Years through to the Diploma Programme. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide in‑class and small‑group support for students with identified learning needs across PYP, MYP and DP.
  • Develop, monitor and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) or similar documentation.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and ensure inclusive classroom practice.
  • Conduct informal assessments and contribute to referrals for formal assessments when needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with teachers, parents and the Student Support Team.
  • Support students in developing self‑advocacy, organisational skills and effective learning strategies.
  • Contribute to whole‑school initiatives that promote wellbeing, inclusion and personalised learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to special educational needs and IB pedagogy.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • A recognised teaching qualification plus additional training or certification in Special Educational Needs / Learning Support.
  • Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, processing difficulties, mild/moderate learning disabilities).
  • Experience within the IB continuum is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of differentiation, assessment for learning and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • A patient, empathetic approach and a strong commitment to student wellbeing.
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, families and colleagues.
