A renewable energy development firm is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to oversee activities related to the grid connection of solar PV plants in Italy. Candidates should have an MSc in Electrical Engineering and experience with grid design and legislation. Proficiency in Italian and English is required. The role can be performed remotely with visits to project sites as needed.

Electrical Engineer / Grid Connection Specialist (remote):

Leap29 are currently assisting a renewable energy developer that is active in several European countries. They are a well-funded start-up company with a wealth of market experience among the founders and senior managers.

Our client is seeking a Grid Connection Manager to oversee all activities related to the grid connection of Solar PV plants in Italy. This role encompasses the acquisition, development, design, construction, and electricity sale processes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate acquisition opportunities, grid connection feasibility, and project risks for greenfield solar projects.
• Develop and implement grid connection strategies, optimizing routes and securing land agreements.
• Lead communications and negotiations with System Operators and developers for connection agreements.
• Design cost-effective grid solutions with engineers and ensure compliance with grid agreements.
• Support the construction team with grid-related issues and manage pre-energization processes.
• Stay informed on legal and technical frameworks, contributing to discussions on grid connections.

Qualifications

• MSc in Electrical Engineering (preferred) with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of grid connection legislation, grid design best practices, and high/medium voltage components.
• Proficient in Italian and English (written and spoken).
• Experience with grid permitting, SCADA systems, and PV power generation specifics.
• Ability to work remotely, with the possibility of travelling to project sites
