What You’ll do (the role)

This role will support participation in the power markets to enable Lightsource bp’s development activity in Europe. Collaborating with the Power Marketing Team and Development origination, responsibilities include pipeline development, auction participation, route to market contracting, and understanding regulatory and dispatching aspects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Track developments in wholesale market regulation, ancillary services, design, and metering.
  2. Run RfPs for Route to Market contracts for renewable and BESS projects, including uncontracted environmental attributes, minimizing basis risk.
  3. Support pricing and contractual terms for renewable and BESS pipeline deals; interact with utilities on PPA market developments and innovative power marketing solutions.
  4. Understand metering, data flows, dispatching, and develop related processes with relevant teams.
  5. Support accreditation processes for environmental attributes.
  6. Assist in structuring and negotiating PPAs and other power sales activities.
  7. Follow RES and BESS auctions, develop bidding strategies, and support contract engagement.
  8. Ensure all obligations and conditions are met from execution to operation, supporting successful offtake arrangements.
  9. Manage PPA documentation handover to Asset Management.
  10. Build a pipeline of Corporate PPA opportunities with European energy buyers, collaborating with the team and Head of Strategic Partnerships.
  11. Identify and respond to tenders from Corporate offtakers.
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge and Experience

Mandatory/Required:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience with stakeholder and market engagement.
  • Understanding of European power markets, Italian electricity market, and renewable energy policies.
  • Knowledge of power purchase agreements and energy sales structures.
  • Experience with RES auctions, environmental attributes, capacity markets, and related value streams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience negotiating PPAs with utility off-takers.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of metering and connection protocols for solar PV.
  • Strong project management skills managing multiple projects.
  • Understanding of energy price risk management and hedging.
  • Proven deal structuring and negotiation skills.

  • Self-motivated, organized, and deadline-oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and other European languages.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe.
