A leading maritime company in Indonesia is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee the technical condition and operational readiness of AHTS offshore vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with class and flag state regulations, managing the technical budget, and leading the technical team. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Traveling to vessels and shipyards is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 3 years experience as Technical Manager / 5 Years Technical Superintendent /3 Years Assistant Technical Manager handling vessel maintenance and repair.
Strong knowledge of:
Able to manage budget, cost control, and technical reporting.
Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
Willing to travel and make regular visits to vessels and shipyards.
Overall responsibility for technical condition, reliability, and performance of AHTS offshore vessels.
Ensure vessels are maintained in compliance with Class, Flag State, Charterer, and Company standards.
Provide technical advice and consultation to Executive Management regarding vessel condition, repair strategy, risks, and improvement plans.
Develop, implement, and monitor Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for all vessels.
Plan, supervise, and control:
Coordinate dry docking, special surveys, and major repairs, including scope of work, budgeting, execution, and close‑out reporting.
Conduct technical inspections onboard vessels to verify machinery condition and maintenance quality.
Prepare and control annual technical budget, including maintenance, spare parts, and docking costs.
Review and monitor engineering and technical expenses to ensure cost efficiency without compromising safety or reliability.
Analyze maintenance trends and propose cost optimization strategies.
Manage, supervise, and guide Technical Superintendents, Port Engineers, and technical staff.
Develop competency, training, and performance monitoring programs for the technical team.
Ensure technical staff clearly understand their duties, responsibilities, and KPIs.
Develop and implement technical audit programs to ensure company policies and procedures are applied safely and effectively.
Ensure all ship technical documents are updated and properly controlled, including:
Support internal and external audits (ISM, Class, Flag State, Charterer inspections).
Cooperate with charterers and customers during technical and operational inspections.
Coordinate with Operations Department to ensure technical readiness aligned with offshore project requirements.
Support vessel performance during offshore operations, including critical towing, anchor handling, and standby duties.
Coordinate with shipyards, workshops, makers, and service providers for repair and maintenance works.
Supervise quality, specification, and installation of spare parts, equipment, and materials.
Ensure vendors deliver work according to agreed scope, quality, timeline, and cost.
Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and risks affecting vessel operation.
Provide immediate technical support during breakdowns or offshore emergencies.
Implement preventive measures to avoid recurring technical failures.
Prepare periodic technical reports (monthly/quarterly/annually) covering:
Set quarterly technical targets and monitor achievement against plans.
