Job Description
- Coordinate the activities and output of the entire drafting team.
- Ensure all drawings used comply with the latest revision (revision control).
- Direct the creation of spool drawings based on isometrics and P&IDs.
- Direct the drafting team in the preparation of joint numbering for fabrication and field installation purposes.
- Prepare and ensure the creation of accurate weld maps for the QA/QC team and the site team.
- Verify materials based on isometrics and MTOs from the consultant.
- Prepare internal Material Take-Offs (MTOs) when necessary.
- Verify all engineering documents meet company and project standards.
- Liaise between the internal engineering team and the external consultant for clarifications.
- Submit technical queries (TQs/RFIs) to the consultant when drawing discrepancies arise.
- Coordinate with the HO team for design changes or drawing revisions.
- Ensure all isometric spools are properly marked and legible to the site team.
- Coordinate the drawing workflow from the initial stage to final approval.
- Develop the drafter's work schedule and ensure targets are met.
- Conduct site visits to verify actual conditions.
- Prepare weekly engineering/drafting progress reports for management.
- Identify potential conflicts, missing items, or discrepancies between P&IDs and isometrics.
- Oversee spool alignment with orientation, dimensions, elevations, and support details.
- Transfer data between spool drawings, welding maps, and joint lists.
- Assist the QC team with documentation requirements for welding, hydrotesting, and mechanical finishing.
- Oversee the implementation of design changes from the consultant.
- Ensure all documentation is traceable according to audit standards.
- Prepare documents for pre-fabrication or technical meetings.
- Control the quality of drawings before submission to the fabrication or site team.
- Manage the document storage system (digital & physical) for easy access by the relevant teams.
- Resolve technical issues that arise during the fabrication and installation process.
- Coordinate the preparation of documents for hydrotests or pressure test packs.
- Support the site team regarding drawing comprehension, combined numbering, and technical revisions.
- Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders (engineering, QC, site, consultants, and users).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Marine Engineering or a relevant major.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Project Engineer / Engineering Coordinator on piping or fabrication projects.
- Able to read and understand P&ID drawings well.
- Proficient in reading detailed isometric drawings (elevation, orientation, dimensions).
- Understanding of welding standards and symbols (WPS, PQR, weld symbols).
- Experience creating or reviewing spool drawings.
- Understanding of the joint numbering process and integration with welding mapping systems.
- Familiarity with workflow engineering for piping projects.
- Must be able to communicate actively in English, especially to communicate with foreign consultants.
- Proficient in AutoCAD software.
- Proficient in Navisworks for reviewing 3D models (a plus).
- Understanding of industry standards such as ASME, ASTM, and API (a plus).
- Experience working with large amounts of technical documentation.
- Leadership skills to direct a team of drafters.
- Able to prioritize work based on project milestones.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous in reviewing technical drawings.
- Able to prepare MTOs and cross-check materials.
- Understanding of spool fabrication and on-site installation processes.
- Accustomed to creating technical progress reports.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Accustomed to communicating with foreign consultants/clients via email, online, and offline meetings.
- Understands the document revision process (revision control).
- Basic understanding of NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT) for welding joints (added value).
- Willing to be placed on-site.
- Disciplined, responsible, and proactive.
- Able to read and understand piping classes and material specifications.
- Organized in storing and managing technical documents.
- Professional work ethic and commitment to quality work.
