Job description

Konservasi Indonesia is a national foundation established to support sustainable development in Indonesia. We are the main partner of Conservation International in Indonesia. For more information, please visit: www.konservasi-id.org

We envision a healthy and prosperous Indonesia where biodiversity is valued and preserved. With offices and project sites across the country, we promote a sustainable landscape‑seascape approach and establish partnerships with multiple stakeholders across sectors and jurisdictions to deliver lasting impacts for people and nature.

As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following position for our office in Jakarta:

Nature Finance Manager (Landscapes) (Code: NF-M)

More than half of global GDP – $44 trillion of economic value – is dependent on nature and its services. Despite the clear economic case for environmental conservation, a significant proportion of global financial flows continue to promote activities that contribute toward the degradation of the world’s natural capital. Reorienting global finance toward planet‑positive investments that advance nature protection while achieving climate mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development objectives requires skilled professionals capable of designing novel financing solutions and effectively adapting existing finance tools and strategies to address these opportunities.

Konservasi Indonesia (KI), the main partner of Conservation International (CI) in Indonesia, is hiring a Nature Finance Manager (Landscapes) to lead a growing portfolio of landscape finance initiatives in Indonesia. Leveraging relevant knowledge, skills, and experience, this position will design, develop, and advance programs that support nature protection and sustainable, low‑emissions development opportunities in priority Indonesian landscapes. It will serve as a technical advisor and expert, advising internal and external partners on a range of sustainable financing mechanisms and strategies to support both institutional and country climate, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development goals and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Landscape Finance Strategy: In collaboration with Landscape Managers and other field program leads, design and develop landscape financing and investment strategies, including underlying economic and financial analyses, that support national, sub‑national, and institutional conservation and sustainable development objectives. Provide strategic analysis of alignment of nature financing strategies with global and national government priorities.
  • Project Design & Delivery: Coordinate with technical, field, and operational teams, support the origination, structuring, and implementation of nature financing initiatives, and lead, plan, and oversee delivery of nature finance projects and transactions. Provide technical support to landscape managers and program directors to ensure the projects in the pipeline are aligned with programmatic and landscape financing strategies. Lead coordination and regular communication internally and externally to accelerate project delivery.
  • Resource Mobilization: Support the design and development of funding proposals and other fundraising materials to support landscape financing plans and strategies. In coordination with partnerships teams, cultivate and manage relationships with key donors and partners.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Lead engagement with senior leadership, and external stakeholders including government officials, current and prospective funders, and industry and financial sector institutions around KI nature financing initiatives. Represent KI nature finance work as a technical expert and thought leader at key national and international conferences, meetings, and other convenings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Equivalent of a Master’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related fields and 10 years of full‑time professional experience in a relevant field or discipline.
  • Professional experience in development finance, project finance, public and/or private market debt and/or equity capital markets, and/or impact investing.
  • Experience in economic analysis including cost‑benefit analysis, value chain analysis, investment and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in climate‑related financing including carbon market transactions (project origination, compliance and/or voluntary carbon market standards, investment structuring, etc.).
  • Experience managing large complex projects.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English. Excellent English written and oral communication skills (Minimum: ILR Level 4 – Full Professional Working Proficiency, CEFR Level C1: Advanced).
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to build on existing knowledge to develop new approaches.
  • Demonstrated track record of working effectively and collaboratively with multicultural, international, multidisciplinary teams to produce concrete results, including strong capacity to navigate diversity, equity, and inclusion.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Based in KI Jakarta with frequent travel (25% or more) including project sites and other office locations.
  • Ability to work extended work hours to meet project deadlines.
