Business Development Manager - Freight Forwarding

We are seeking a highly driven Business Development Manager to lead commercial growth for our client - freight forwarding and 3PL services in the Batam region. This role focuses on acquiring new customers, expanding key accounts, and driving revenue across services such as air & sea freight, customs clearance, domestic distribution, and project logistics.

You will play a critical role in strengthening our presence in Batam by identifying market opportunities, developing tailored logistics solutions, and building long-term relationships with clients in manufacturing, electronics, marine, construction, and export-driven sectors.

This position requires a strong hunter mindset, solid industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with internal operations teams to deliver seamless end-to-end logistics solutions.

Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, trucking, or 3PL operations; experience managing both sales and operational functions is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record in business development and achieving revenue/GP targets, particularly within transportation, warehousing, or distribution services.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic freight, customs procedures, trucking operations, and end-to-end logistics execution.
  • Experience leading teams (sales, ops, or cross-functional). Prior experience in a branch or supervisory leadership role is a strong asset.
  • Ability to analyze commercial performance, operational challenges, and cost structures, and present improvement recommendations based on data.
  • Strong negotiation skills with vendors, carriers, and clients, including handling contract renewals and rate agreements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work closely with customers, internal support functions, and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, reporting dashboards, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); ERP/WMS/TMS knowledge is a plus.
  • High ownership mentality, problem-solving mindset, and ability to make decisions independently while aligning with company goals.
  • Ability to travel when required and represent the company professionally in external meetings.
