We are currently seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor capable of motivating staff to perform cleaning duties within the hospital, providing food and beverages to inpatient service users during meal times, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety across our sites and departments.

This is a fixed-term contract for six months, covering for our current supervisor on a career break.

As part of a small supervisory team, support and lead daily housekeeping and linen services at Southmead Hospital.

Ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained according to the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS, ensuring the hospital is clean and safe for healthcare.

Work as an integral part of the Facilities Team to provide quality service to Service Users.

Support ward staff during protected patient meal times.

Oversee the hospital linen service for all wards.

• Allocate daily tasks to Housekeepers and Catering Assistants to ensure effective cleaning and catering services in departmental and ward areas.
• Monitor and adjust linen delivery and quality, reporting issues as needed.
• Support activities for the Hotel Services and Nursing Teams, including managing supplies and meal services.
• Maintain hygiene standards and compliance with legislation and Trust policies.
• Plan staffing coverage to maximize service delivery.
• Maintain records of staff attendance, sickness, and holidays.
• Assist in recruitment and staff training, including competency and career development reviews.
• Check and report on machinery and equipment, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
• Follow good hygiene practices and participate in regular audits.
• Act as site contact for pest control issues, liaising with contractors and maintaining records.
• Perform housekeeping duties as required.
• Ensure confidentiality, privacy, and dignity for clients and staff at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team members, managers, and other agencies.

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Literate and numerate with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Previous supervisory experience in cleaning or catering environments.
• Experience with audits and staff training.
• Basic IT skills.
• Empathy for individuals with mental health issues and ability to handle challenging behavior.
• Knowledge of COSHH.
• Full clean driving license.
• Experience in a hospital setting.
• Flexible attitude to working hours.

This position requires a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order 1975).
