We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Essex. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them access education and develop essential life skills.

As an LSA, you will work alongside teachers and other staff to provide targeted support, encourage positive behaviour, and foster an environment where students feel safe and valued. Every day is different, and your impact will be visible in the progress and confidence of the pupils you support.

This is a full‑time, permanent role within a specialist SEMH setting, starting in September 2025. The position is offered on an NJC Grade 4 SCP 6–7 pay scale, reflecting your skills and contribution. You will also benefit from working in a collaborative environment with ongoing training and professional development.

• Provide in‑class and one‑to‑one support for students with SEMH needs
• Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities
• Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Encourage positive social interaction and engagement in lessons
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Promote inclusion, independence, and wellbeing for all pupils
• Contribute to creating a safe and nurturing school environment
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or SEND (desirable)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
• Patience, empathy, and resilience
• A team player, able to work effectively with colleagues and professionals
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
