A Research Associate position is available to undertake research in a UKRI/EPSRC funded research project to investigate the development of terahertz (THz) spintronic emitters as strong sources of THz radiation for supporting the switching of nanoscale magnetic bits, at THz timescales. The work is experimental in nature and focuses on development of future storage technologies offering low energy, but high speed switching.

• Undertake experimental research in THz spintronic emitters as sources of THz radiation to support switching of nanoscale magnetic bits at THz timescales.
• Develop and advance experimental techniques for the project and contribute to the creation of future storage technologies with low energy and high-speed switching.
• Perform hands-on work in thin-film fabrication, nanoscale patterning and characterisation.
• Collaborate with team members and pass on skills and knowledge to PhD/MSc/MPhys students.

• You will hold or be about to obtain a PhD or equivalent in Physics, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
• You must have hands-on experimental experience and skills in thin-film fabrication, nanoscale patterning and characterisation.
• Some knowledge of THz time-domain spectroscopy employing ultrafast lasers would be beneficial, but not essential.
