Job description

The primary purpose of this role(s) is to offerevidence based therapeutic interventions to children, young people and theirfamilies (parents/carers). We are particularly interested in qualifiedpractitioners with 3 years post qualification experience, with a BACP/UKCPaccreditation and experience of working with younger children (5-11 years old) andtheir families (parents and/or carers) and with young people in youth work orother settings.

Main duties of the job

The successful post-holder(s) will be able towork creatively and independently with young people and families (parents and/orcarers) to achieve their goals. They will offer individual and groupinterventions as required. They will empower families (parents/carers) andyoung people to manage complex situations and needs.

This role requires a minimum commitment of 32hours a week. It may be suited to professionals seeking to work in the charitysector, with its dynamic, creative and caring environment. The post offersflexible working arrangements in line with business needs. The service operates8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdayworking.

Bromley Y is along-established charity based in Bromley that values the voices of Children,Young People (CYP), their families (parents and/or carers) as well as partneragencies. We are a Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Service based on theprinciples of IThrive and IAPT and deliver Early Help and Prevention to thosein need. We are very proud to offer a range of therapeutic approaches, from 1:1evidenced based interventions to group work, digital support, webinars,mentoring and social prescribing. We are recruiting for two counsellorpositions within our Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Services Team.

Job responsibilities

Deliver counsellingand other evidence based therapeutic interventions to children, young peopleand their families in an early intervention emotional wellbeing charity. We areparticularly interested in therapists with a professional background in workingwith families, youth work, nursing, or social work. This list is not exclusiveand applicants with other relevant therapeutic or counselling experience arealso welcome to apply. As a therapistyou will hold a weekly caseload, undertake mental health assessments, offergroup and individual sessions and work creatively to achieve client goals. Youwill work as part of a dynamic and friendly staff team, and work in partnershipwith the childs network. You will be able to demonstrate good safeguardingpractice.

Thepost-holder will carry an agreed caseload and work with young people fromdiverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access toservices for all. Bromley Y offers blended work, with the offer of onlinesessions, with opportunities to meet with children and young people and theirfamilies at community settings.

The post holder must be prepared to beflexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all children and youngpeople can access support at a time which suits their needs.

MAIN DUTIES

Person Specification
Experience
  • Over two years experience of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
  • Experience of undertaking assessment of emotional and mental health needs of children and young people.
  • Experience of working with multi-agency partners and planning best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Experience of working with neurodiverse clients.
Qualifications
  • Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health.
  • Professional Accreditation BACP or UKCP or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration (occupational health, social work, nursing, psychology).
  • Professional qualification and background in youth work, social work, occupational therapy, education).
