The Opportunity

As the Professional Support Lawyer for the Construction group you will act as a strategic adviser, knowledge leader, and trusted partner to senior stakeholders across the business. You will help define the firm’s approach to legal innovation, service delivery, client engagement and technical excellence.

Working closely with partners and fee‑earners across Construction & Projects, Real Estate, and Dispute Resolution, you will have a visible and influential role in shaping the development of the practice.

This role is ideal for a qualified solicitor with deep construction sector expertise who enjoys strategic thinking, innovation, knowledge development, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Insight & Legal Research

• Monitor emerging construction, infrastructure and real estate legal developments to identify opportunities, risks and market trends.
• Provide strategic analysis to senior leadership, informing business planning, client strategy and practice development.

Knowledge Management Leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of a firm‑wide knowledge management strategy.
• Drive innovation through technology, including AI tools, precedent development, legal databases and knowledge‑sharing systems.
• Manage and enhance the department’s precedent bank to support technical excellence.

Thought Leadership & Client Engagement

• Produce high‑quality thought leadership materials, including industry briefings, white papers and sector reports.
• Collaborate with partners and BD teams to strengthen client relationships and support targeted client initiatives.
• Act as a trusted adviser to key clients by anticipating trends and contributing strategic insight.

Document Automation & Technology Integration

• Assess, implement and optimise document automation solutions and AI technologies to improve efficiency and streamline work processes.
• Work with internal teams and external providers to ensure technology is tailored to the firm’s needs.

Training, Mentoring & Professional Development

• Design and deliver training on legal updates, best practice and emerging trends.
• Coach and mentor fee‑earners at all levels, supporting their technical and professional growth.
• Work with practice leaders to identify capability needs and develop tailored learning programmes.

About You

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with strong commercial or construction law experience.
• Significant familiarity with the construction sector, ideally gained in a top‑tier UK or international firm.
• Demonstrable experience in knowledge management, legal research, innovation or PSL work.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex legal developments into commercial guidance.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with partners, clients and stakeholders.
• A collaborative and proactive approach, with the confidence to influence and contribute at a strategic level.
