Job description
Family Hub Connector – Parental Mental Health Service (PMHS)

£35,391 – £42,888 per annum

Permanent

Full Time (36 hours)

Wandsworth, London

Expected to work across the Wandsworth borough

Are you passionate about supporting children and families by leading and delivering a range of interventions?

The Parental Mental Health Service (PMHS) is part of Wandsworth Council's Early Help Division, offering targeted support to families where parental mental health challenges may affect children’s well‑being, development, and safety. The service focuses on early intervention and prevention, delivering Tier 1 mental health support to parents through one‑to‑one sessions, group work and brief interventions, with referrals to specialist services where needed. Weekly sessions are held across Roehampton, Battersea, and Tooting at local venues, ensuring accessibility for families.

About the role

As a Family Hub Connector, you will lead and deliver a wide range of interventions to support families, with a focus on parental mental health. Working as part of Wandsworth Council’s Family Hub Offer, you will provide direct family support, plan play sessions, oversee social work student placements, and deliver supervision to staff. You will help parents develop their parenting skills, improve mental health outcomes, and ensure children have the best start in life.

You will work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners, including health, education and social care to ensure families receive holistic and tailored support. You will support children from conception to 19 years (or up to 25 years for those with special educational needs and disabilities), aligning your work with Wandsworth Council’s values.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • A recognised Level 3 qualification or higher in social work, childcare, education, or a related field.
  • Experience planning and delivering play‑based activities for children aged 0–12, informed by the EYFS framework.
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding practices, including risk management and escalation.
  • Experience supporting parents with mental health challenges and delivering evidence‑based interventions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and IT skills for recording work and communicating effectively with families and professionals.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with families, including those who are ‘seldom heard’.
  • A commitment to equal opportunities and an understanding of the impact of deprivation and discrimination on families.
  • Experience in casework and delivering group‑based interventions to families.
