Principal Ecologist
£40,000- £45,000
Brighton, UK (flexible)
Allen & York are excited to collaborate with a small but growing environmental consultancy based in Brighton.
Our client seeks a skilled Principal Ecologist ready for their next challenge. You will work on a diverse range of projects, including large-scale residential developments, renewable energy projects, and the restoration of historical monuments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for client liaison, project management, conducting field surveys, producing high-quality reports, and supporting junior team members.
You should hold a degree or equivalent in ecology or a related field, along with a Natural England survey licence for at least two species/groups. Extensive experience in habitat and protected species surveys is required, with the ability to produce technical outputs such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, protected species reports, and mitigation plans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a collaborative work approach.
You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Experience in obtaining European Protected Species Mitigation licences and knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain, including assessments using the Defra metric, would be advantageous.
