Are you looking for an exciting new role? Are you an enthusiastic CSSD instrument technician with Certificate 4 in sterilisation or an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with theatre experience willing to gain a Certificate 4 in sterilisation with support from your employer? If so, we would love to hear from you as we are seeking a Loans Set Coordinator Instrument Technician for full-time employment, reporting to the CSSD Manager at Epworth Geelong - Waurn Ponds. Your role will involve checking loan equipment in and out of our busy department as well as coordinating with company representatives and theatre staff to ensure all necessary loan instrumentation and prostheses are sterilised and ready for when they are needed in theatre. You will also contribute to other areas of the department when needed, but will mostly work with loan instruments and prostheses. You will contribute to infection prevention and control as well as overall patient safety by ensuring the quality of reusable medical devices through sterilisation and disinfection processes.
Shifts available working in loans department from Monday to Friday with some availability of flexible working arrangements to assist you with your work / life balance where this fits in with operational requirements. Roster times can be discussed with the successful applicant.
Key Responsibilities
To be successful in this role :
You will support the theatre team by collection, cleaning, decontamination, inspection, testing, packing, sterilisation, storage and distribution of reusable medical devices and equipment and will be a proactive member of a self-directed and cohesive CSSD team. Experience in CSSD, loans equipment and / or theatre nursing is essential for this role.
You will be dedicated to quality service provision that aligns with the requirements of relevant regulations and standards, enjoy working independently within a team under the direction of a team leader and department manager, and be committed to quality improvement.

Epworth Geelong, located adjacent to Deakin University’s Medical School in Waurn Ponds, is developing an environment of world-class health care and education to meet the needs of the expanding population of Geelong and South West Victoria. It features contemporary design, cutting-edge medical technology and best practice patient care, whilst offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and rehabilitation services.
Our Peri-operative environment consists of 9 Operating Theatres including a Hybrid Theatre, Cath Lab and 2 endoscopy suites. Located all on the one level we have the Operating Theatre, Cath Lab, ICU and Day Surgery allowing excellent patient flow and best patient care. As there is an increased demand for the excellence Epworth Geelong provide to its patients and VMOs, our operating theatres are continuing to expand. Currently our specialities include Orthopaedics, Vascular, General, Macs Facs, ENT, Pain, Ophthalmology, Endoscopy, Plastics, Neurosurgery and Urology. We operate Monday to Friday with emergencies on weekends which helps provide flexible rostering, giving our staff an excellent work / life balance. With education as a key motivator for our department we provide multiple opportunities for our staff to develop new skills as well as continue to build on their already strong knowledge base.

The annual salary for the Loans Instrument Technician will be discussed with the successful applicant dependent upon qualifications and experience. Salary may be above that of a Grade 4 Instrument Technician which is currently – AUD $69,799 - $70,910 + super + entitlements, dependent on qualifications and experience. (pro-rated for part-time).
