Previous experience in an aviation, automotive or similar embedded systems development environment is helpful as it demonstrates understanding of working to rigorous industry mandated development standards; for example, ARP4754A and ARP4761. This shows a knowledge of working with complex system designs, for implementation in hardware and software.
An appropriate degree or HND in Engineering, Mathematics, Electronics, Applied Physics or similar subject, or equivalent experience shows a logical mindset, alongside good problem solving and solution building skills.
Experience of the systems design lifecycle will help you in activities such as capturing, understanding and documenting the customer’s system reliability and maintainability requirements. Good appreciation of the principles of Design for Reliability will aid in the generation of RM&T assessments such as reliability predictions, FMEAs and maintainability analyses. Strong understanding of what makes a reliable and usable product is essential and strong communication and influencing skills are advantageous in this role.
You will have a passion for engineering and sustainability with a keen interest in industry trends and electrification of aircraft which will enable you to contribute to the growth of the business portfolio of next generation of market‑leading products.
You will be required to work in a team environment, so good written and verbal communication skills will make you and the team most effective. You will be asked to participate in technical and programme reviews to business leads, as well as the end customer. A positive attitude, initiative, pro‑activeness and enthusiasm and passion for engineering will help you succeed in the department.
