About Pearson Assessment Services : The Pearson Assessment Services (PAS) team provides assessment services for the UK and international markets, supporting government education departments with project management, operational delivery, and technical solutions. Part of Pearson School Qualifications, we support curriculum, qualifications, and assessments globally, delivering exams to over a million students annually in more than 80 countries, and are a center of excellence in qualifications and assessment.

About you

You will have significant experience in full stack development, creating solutions that benefit users, ideally within an Agile environment using Scrum or Kanban.

Key Skills & Experience

• Experience with Laravel framework for front and backend development
• Designing and implementing MySQL database structures
• Creating technical specifications based on requirements
• Estimating and developing in Agile projects
• Participating in peer reviews
• Delivering complex digital projects on tight deadlines
• Working with global development teams
• Contributing to architectural discussions and planning
• Designing cloud-based software systems
• Collaborating with product owners and business analysts to refine requirements
• Ensuring application delivery and providing production support
• Applying best practices for development platforms
• Strong PHP, Laravel, and MySQL experience
• Knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS), caches, queues
• Experience with Docker and containerization
• Proven track record in full-cycle business systems development
• Excellent communication skills
• Willingness to travel for projects
• Strong UI design knowledge
• Experience in education and assessment sectors is beneficial
• Designing scalable, high-traffic data solutions

Job Location and Hours

The role is based in Rotherham, London, Oxfordshire, or Manchester, with a 37.5-hour workweek. Our hybrid policy requires visiting the office once a week, with occasional travel to other Pearson sites. Candidates should be within a suitable commute, as office presence policies may increase in 2024.
