Salary - up to £43,448 + overtime + standby (OTE of £7,400 in overtime and standby payments)
Location: Hanningfield (Mobile Worker with van and fuel card provided)
We are seeking an experienced industrial Electrical Technician to join the Essex maintenance team. Reporting to a team manager, you will carry out planned maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment on NWL sites to a high standard.
Your responsibilities include liaising with asset owners to deliver maintenance routines efficiently while safeguarding site processes. You should be able to read schematics, fault find, source, and replace faulty components. Knowledge of single-phase and 3-phase AC systems, PLCs, radio and telemetry, level control, variable speed drives, and motor starting methods (DOL & Star Delta) is essential. A willingness to multi-skill is also required.
NWG provides support and training to ensure you are competent in inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, testing, installing, modifying, or repairing electrical components and machinery. Our maintenance department is dynamic; each technician receives a smartphone and laptop for mobile work instructions and progress updates. You will follow a robust maintenance plan and participate in minor installation projects.
This role involves outdoor work, offering a varied working environment with unique challenges, from diagnosing faults to performing preventative maintenance to enhance plant availability. All tools and equipment are supplied to minimize downtime, operating 24/7/365.
You will be a fully mobile worker covering the Essex region, starting and ending your day from home. NWG values potential, offering development opportunities and internal progression. You will receive support from our leadership and team members throughout your employment.
After completing core and competency training, you will work an out-of-hours standby rota, attracting an annual payment of circa £1,000. Additional payments are made for callouts and extra hours.
You should be a time-served electrical technician with at least ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical engineering. Experience in reactive breakdowns and planned maintenance is required, along with good time management skills.
Competence in reading electrical drawings, fault finding, and component replacement is essential. A desire to expand your skills through training is encouraged, with opportunities to earn additional payments for technical modules.
We seek candidates with a can-do attitude, eagerness to learn, practical problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills. A strong commitment to health and safety is vital. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and job planning software is desirable, as is experience with contractor engagement, which can be developed on the job.
