Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Job Description

As a Delivery Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of outputs within the Information Directorate. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Delivery Manager will play a key role in driving digital transformation initiatives and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, understand their needs and ensure that digital solutions meet the strategic objectives of the Army and Defence organisations.

You Will:

  • Champion Modern Ways of Working: Drive the governance and ethics around the Army’s digitalisation adoption in accordance with Defence /cross government and Army design Authority policies and direction
  • Empower Decision-Making: Develop and deploy relevant data and tools that provide actionable insights to leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels
  • Drive Cultural Change: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by championing the use of digital technologies across the directorate, providing training and support to empower teams to embrace new ways of working
  • Collaborate for Success: Partner with Defence Digital, Head Office, and the Strategic Hub to ensure alignment with broader MOD digital / data strategies and leverage best practices
  • Shape the Future: Stay at the forefront of digital and data advancements including AI, continuously exploring new applications and opportunities to enhance the directorate's capabilities

A Delivery Manager is responsible for leading and managing activity, from First Look all the way through to Delivery Handover and supporting Analytics products and services through the integration of data from authoritative sources, meeting business requirements through the design and development. This role will give you the opportunity to work with a plethora of stakeholders, not only from across the Army but also across Defence, to really make a difference to how the business is run but also Soldiers and their family’s lived experience. As we move further into a digital world, this role will become even more key; innovation, forward thinking and communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of digital outputs, from first look all the way through to delivery ensuring adherence to project management best practices and standards-based architecture design
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables

Person specification

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can handle the pressure of coordinating a wide range of activities and should be comfortable working within the data and digital profession, willing to challenge established norms and process and be prepared to adapt to changing priorities. Applicants should also have effective written and verbal communication skills and display a positive and professional attitude.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in delivering digital projects within a complex organisational environment, preferably within the defence sector
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, such as Agile or PRINCE2, and their application to digital projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise tasks, and manage competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Project Management
  • Qualifications in Agile Methodology
  • Experience with basic contract management; Contract Purchasing & Finance (CP&F) experience is desirable (CP&F training will be required to create an account if one is not already held)
  • IT background and/or an understanding of analytical tools and applying analysis techniques to make business improvements
  • Agile experience
  • Experience of working in a data and digital environment
  • Results-focused and able to work under pressure
