The Lung Nurse Specialist position is currently advertised to staff members working within the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System. The role supports the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team and the lung service, delivering holistic, patient‑centred care at Kent Oncology Centre, Tunbridge Wells.

Key responsibilities include support for research studies across the Trust, working within a specialist nurse‑led team, and collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary team of oncologists, surgeons, radiographers, community colleagues and administrative staff to provide dynamic and compassionate service throughout the cancer pathway.

• Provide personalised care to lung cancer patients, utilising advanced practice pillars.
• Support delivery of research studies and service development within the lung MDT.
• Collaborate closely with the Band 7 CNS team, oncologists, surgeons, radiographers and community colleagues.
• Assist patients, families and supporters to maximise quality of life from diagnosis through the cancer pathway.
• Attend the Trust’s 2‑week induction programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and paramedics, followed by full clinical induction.

• Band 6 nursing registration (or equivalent).
• Specialist interest in lung cancer, including knowledge of immune checkpoint inhibitor toxicities and pathway management.
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
• Experience in advanced practice and contribution to service remodelling is an advantage.
