Job Purpose

The Nurse Triage will provide clinical assessment and triage of patients presenting to the GP practice with urgent or acute health needs, aiming to improve access to timely care and support patient flow.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder will assess patients via telephone, video, and face‑to‑face consultations, providing clinical advice, treatment, onward referral, or discharge as appropriate.

Experience

• Work which would prepare for making clinical decision on patients' care.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with NMC registration.
• Relevant post‑registration experience (typically 23 years).
• Experience in autonomous clinical decision‑making and triage.
• Excellent communication and consultation skills.
• Ability to assess risk and prioritise workload effectively.
• Experience in urgent care, emergency care, or primary care settings.
• Competent IT skills and experience using electronic patient records.

Desirable

• Minor illness or advanced clinical practice qualification.
• Independent or supplementary prescribing qualification.
• Experience in GP practice or PCN.
• Evidence of CPD in clinical assessment and triage.
