Senior Staff Nurse (West Ward – Haematology) – Secondment
Band 6 – Secondment for 6 months (maternity cover). Full time – 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (annual rate).

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate a coordinated, high‑quality outpatient service to haematology patients in consultation with the ward manager and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
- Support the Ward Sister and manage the day‑to‑day running of the unit in her absence.
- Provide efficient, effective and evidence‑based nursing care to patients.
- Recognise life‑threatening reactions and act appropriately.
- Organise workload in line with clinical priorities.
- Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Nurse.
- Post‑registration haematology or oncology experience of at least 2 years.
- SaCT trained.
- Desirable: Chemotherapy trained.
- Evidence of leadership/management and speciality development.
- Experience in mentoring, facilitation, teaching, assessing and coaching.
- Significant recent experience in a post‑qualification speciality.
Essential Skills
- Good IT literacy.
- Excellent clinical skills in haematology.
- Strong time‑management and communication skills.
