Senior Staff Nurse (West Ward – Haematology) – Secondment

Band 6 – Secondment for 6 months (maternity cover). Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (annual rate).

Location: Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. Job Ref: 193-7669332NCG. Closing date: 28/12/2025 23:59.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate a coordinated, high‑quality outpatient service to haematology patients in consultation with the ward manager and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
  • Support the Ward Sister and manage the day‑to‑day running of the unit in her absence.
  • Provide efficient, effective and evidence‑based nursing care to patients.
  • Recognise life‑threatening reactions and act appropriately.
  • Organise workload in line with clinical priorities.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Post‑registration haematology or oncology experience of at least 2 years.
  • SaCT trained.
  • Desirable: Chemotherapy trained.
  • Evidence of leadership/management and speciality development.
  • Experience in mentoring, facilitation, teaching, assessing and coaching.
  • Significant recent experience in a post‑qualification speciality.
Essential Skills
  • Good IT literacy.

  • Strong time‑management and communication skills.
