Job Title: Principal Naval Architect

Location:Barrow-in-Furness, Brough, Frimley, Weymouth, Filton, Portsmouthor Manchester. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible workingarrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options forthis particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing the SSN AUKUS which is now the world’s most advancedSubmarine
• Using your knowledge of hydrostatics,hydrodynamics, seamanship and outfit, infrastructure or whole boatdesign to support the largest shipbuilding programmes in the UK
• Supporting with sea trials, inclining experiments and othercommissioning activities for multiple submarine classes
• Undertaking research and development activities to develop worldleading capabilities
• Writing and presenting technicalreports

Your skills and experiences:

• Demonstrable experience as a NavalArchitect
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Charteredstatus
• Degree in NavalArchitecture
• Experience in ship design analysis and buildsupport
• Advanced numeracy and analytical skills
• Previous experience working on defence projects

The Naval Architectureteam:

As a Principal Naval Architect, you will be animportant member in one of the largest and fastest growing NavalArchitecture Departments in the UK. You will be working on some ofthe most complex ship design and build programmes ever undertaken todeliver cutting edge submarines to the Royal Navy and Royal AustralianNavy.

This role will provide you with the chance to work onsubmarines at all stages of the product life cycle from early designto build support and commission. The Naval Architecture Departmentcomprises teams specialising weights engineering, stability andhydrostatics, infrastructure support, seamanship and outfit,manoeuvring and control, fluid dynamics, design and development.Depending on your location, the role will involve working one day aweek on site, with expectation to travel to Barrow for workcommitments. We offer relocation support packages across allSubmarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
