The Child Sexual Exploitation and Missing From Home Service works with young people who are experiencing or at risk of child sexual exploitation (CSE).

CSE is recognised in the UK as a form of child sexual abuse where an imbalance of power is used to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person.

Job Description

Develop and deliver a range of group programmes, workshops and training packages for young people, professionals, parents and carers.

  • Work with children and young people at risk of CSE and CCE by identifying risk factors and intervening early to prevent exploitation.
  • Develop and deliver tailored interventions to reduce vulnerability.
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to build trust and resilience.
  • Proactively utilise safeguarding protocols to information share and protect children from harm.
  • Signpost to up-to-date evidence-based resources and guidance on child exploitation, informing policies and procedures in education and community settings.
  • Provide advice and guidance to support development of policies and procedures in relation to child exploitation in line with national guidance and best practice.
  • Increase awareness of how to access the specialist support service and other relevant services for young people and adults across West Mercia.
  • Monitor, report and evaluate outcome measures from the interventions and ensure they are completed in accordance with GDPR and Catch22’s monitoring and recording standards.
  • Be a proactive member of the service and team, attending meetings and training events as required.
  • Ensure that the service promotes equality of opportunity and diversity at all levels.
  • Maintain and update professional knowledge and competencies, staying up to date with Catch22 policies and procedures and working in line with local and governmental frameworks such as Public Health England and safeguarding.
Qualifications

You will need direct specialist knowledge of risk factors that lead to exploitation and how to address them, the ability to engage with vulnerable young people one-to-one within a case management model, and the ability to work in an integrated way with key stakeholders involved in the CSE and CCE agenda. In addition, we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience of working directly with young people at levels 2-4 on the continuum of need with diverse support needs.
  • Qualification in Youth Work or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of delivering group work.
  • Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating support activities for and with young people and their carers.
  • Experience and application of health and safety and risk management procedures.
  • Experience of working in partnership with a variety of agencies to achieve outcomes.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of child protection and safeguarding processes and procedures.
  • Experience of writing high-quality reports demonstrating the impact of work undertaken with young people on a 1:1 basis.
