There is an exciting opportunity for the position of ward manager at Moorside Unit, Irwell Ward. The ward is a male PICU and is 6 bedded.

• Be an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated registered mental health nurse who can lead and support a diversified team of staff.
• Work closely with the senior leadership team to manage the environment and support the patients in our care.
• Manage resources and respond to operational demands service-wide as required.
• Ensure compliance with Trust quality statements, policies and procedures, including Risk Management and Health & Safety; undertake initial investigations and furnish reports of complaints; report on difficulties in maintaining policies and procedures to the Service Manager.
• Participate in the agreed appraisal system and support junior staff through Preceptorship, Mentorship and Line management supervision.
• Ensure clinical care is client-centred and evidence-based; gather findings from clinical audits and coordinate the care team’s activities daily.
• Provide leadership, support, and advice for others in the care of clients and their careers.
• Play a major role in the promotion of Clinical and Social governance arrangements in the clinical area.
• Participate in MADE meetings and work collaboratively with external agencies as required.
• Determine and manage the administrative needs of the ward; lead efforts to ensure effective joint working with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure responsive and appropriate service delivery to users and carers; represent the service internally and externally in relation to these responsibilities.

• Development of junior staff through Preceptorship, Mentorship and Line management supervision.
• Support and lead the team in ongoing training and leadership development opportunities offered by the Trust.

• Pay Enhancements – 30% additional for Evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays and 60% additional for Sundays and Bank holidays.
