Job description

Job Title: School Counsellor

Job Purpose: To provide high-quality therapeutic support to pupils, promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and mental health across the School. You will work closely with our pastoral team, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent care and contribute to our whole-school approach to wellbeing.

Reporting Line: Lead School Counsellor

Start Date: ASAP

Tenure: Permanent, part-time (3 days per week, 8:00am - 4:00pm, 22.5 hours per week, term-time plus occasional holiday work – approx. 38 weeks)

Remuneration: £37,220 – £41,919 per annum (FTE). Actual salary: £22,332 – £25,151. Plus access to our generous benefits and rewards package, including a Health Cash Plan, daily hot lunch and more.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one therapeutic support to pupils aged 11-18
  • Assess needs and provide structured counselling interventions
  • Work collaboratively with parents, staff and external professionals
  • Deliver psycho-educational talks and group sessions
  • Maintain accurate records and engage in supervision and CPD
Qualifications
  • A recognised post-graduate counselling or psychotherapy qualification
  • Accreditation (or eligibility) with a relevant professional body
  • Significant experience working therapeutically with children and adolescents, ideally in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and excellent communication skills
